Meggie was on the Supported Internship called Into Catering. She really enjoyed her internship and especially loved her final work placement which was based at St Monica Trust. There she worked in the kitchen with the Head Chef Gareth, who was her work place mentor.
She fitted in well helping to prepare vegetables, serving food and learning new skills. The team were very supportive and made Meggie feel at home. Our Locality Manager Sheren Wyatt saw a real change in Meggie during her time with the Trust:
‘Since working with her on the Into Catering internship, I have seen Meggie's confidence grow, but it has really been at St Monica's that she has found her wings and has been encouraged to fly. The work placement at the Trust has been an amazing experience for Meggie.'
At the end of the internship programme however, Meggie was still a little unsure about getting a job. She felt wasn't quite ready for employment, but she didn't want to leave St Monica Trust. The team said that Meggie could stay so she started as a volunteer. During this time she has worked both in the kitchen and in front of house.
Meggie and her Dad hoped that one day she might get a job at St Monica Trust. This wish came true a few weeks ago, when Meggie was offered her a job as Catering Assistant.
Both Meggie and her Dad are so pleased that she now has her dream job.
